Dept. of Biochemistry & Organic Chemistry

Undergraduate degree projects
Introduction
The undergraduate thesis should provide the student with training in planning, conducting, and presenting an independent project. Furthermore, the student should come in contact with current reseach and/or developmental work in biochemistry and/or organic chemistry.
Application and performance - Step-by-step
_
This description summarizes what applies to the natural science program in chemistry. You find more details on their home pages.
_
- In order to be eligible for an undergraduate project, you have to apply to the course department of the educational program you are registered in (see below), and get accepted. The deadline for application is approx 15th October for the spring semester and 15th April for the autumn semester.
- Choose a project at a department within the University or in industry, anywhere in Sweden or abroad. A list of current projects is available below (contact the supervisor for details), but you may also find a project yourself.
- Once you have agreed on a project with your supervisor, write a short description of the project (ca 1 A4), including time period and supervisor. This has to be approved by the project co-ordinator before you can start.
- When you start your project you must register at the course department of the educational program you are registered in (see above).
- Carry out the project! Write a report following these instructions (LINK) and get it approved by your supervisor before you hand it to the project coordinator.
- Give an oral presentation of your project and defend it. Two other project workers will function as your opponents and you will be the opponent on two other projects. Presentation of projects will be done at one occasion per semester, in December/January and May/June, respectively.
- The final approval of your project will be done by the project coordinator, in concert with your supervisor, based on your written and oral presentations. Projects are graded "pass" or "fail".
